Guarda tu lengua de mal, Y tus labios de hablar engaño.

Salmo 34:13 (Reina-Valera 1909)

Oración de la mañana

Salmo 92; Salmo 8 (Reina-Valera 1909). Liturgia de las Horas, Semana IV.

Salmo 92

1Bueno es alabar a Jehová, Y cantar salmos a tu nombre, oh Altísimo;

14Aun en la vejez fructificarán; Estarán vigorosos y verdes;

15Para anunciar que Jehová mi fortaleza es recto. Y que en él no hay injusticia.

Salmo 8

Salmo 119:169–176; Salmo 45 (Reina-Valera 1909). Liturgia de las Horas, Semana IV.

Salmo 119:169–176

169Acérquese mi clamor delante de ti, oh Jehová: Dame entendimiento conforme a tu palabra.

170Venga mi oración delante de ti: Líbrame conforme a tu dicho.

171Mis labios rebosarán alabanza, Cuando me enseñares tus estatutos.

173Sea tu mano en mi socorro; Porque tus mandamientos he escogido.

174Deseado he tu salud, oh Jehová; Y tu ley es mi delicia.

175Viva mi alma y alábete; Y tus juicios me ayuden.

176Yo anduve errante como oveja extraviada; busca a tu siervo; Porque no me he olvidado de tus mandamientos.

Salmo 45

10Oye, hija, y mira, e inclina tu oído; Y olvida tu pueblo, y la casa de tu padre;

Salmo 141:1–9; Salmo 142 (Reina-Valera 1909). Liturgia de las Horas, Semana IV.

Salmo 141:1–9

1Jehová, a ti he clamado; apresúrate a mí; Escucha mi voz, cuando te invocare.

8Por tanto a ti, oh Jehová Señor, miran mis ojos: En ti he confiado, no desampares mi alma.

Salmo 142

1Con mi voz clamaré a Jehová, Con mi voz pediré a Jehová misericordia.

Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Psalm 34:13 (KJV)

Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

Psalm 34:13 (KJV)

Morning Prayer

Psalm 92; Psalm 8 (KJV). Liturgy of the Hours, Week IV.

Psalm 92

1It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:

2To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,

3Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.

4For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

5O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

6A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.

7When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:

8But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore.

9For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

10But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

11Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.

12The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

13Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.

14They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;

15To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Psalm 8

1O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

2Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

3When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

4What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

5For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

6Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

7All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

8The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

9O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Afternoon Prayer

Psalm 119:169–176; Psalm 45 (KJV). Liturgy of the Hours, Week IV.

Psalm 119:169–176

169Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD: give me understanding according to thy word.

170Let my supplication come before thee: deliver me according to thy word.

171My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes.

172My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

173Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts.

174I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight.

175Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me.

176I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.

Psalm 45

1My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

2Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.

3Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty.

4And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.

5Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.

6Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.

7Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

8All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.

9Kings' daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir.

10Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house;

11So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.

12And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour.

13The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.

14She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.

15With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace.

16Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth.

17I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.

Evening Prayer

Psalm 141:1–9; Psalm 142 (KJV). Liturgy of the Hours, Week IV.

Psalm 141:1–9

1LORD, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.

2Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

3Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

4Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.

5Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.

6When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet.

7Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth.

8But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.

9Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity.

Psalm 142

1I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.

2I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

3When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

4I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

5I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

6Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

7Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.
